Event Details

This Bloodborne Pathogen course is required annually for employees with possible occupational exposure to potentially infectious materials that put anyone at risk for serious illness or death such as hepatitis B (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV), and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).  The course meets the information and skills aspect of the U.S.  Department of Labor - Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Bloodborne Pathogen Standards.   Occupations such as physicians, nurses, dentist, dental assistants, hospice, tattoo artist etc… are expected to refresh their knowledge and skills annually.

Objectives:  Students will learn first aid for exposure to hepatitis, HIV, needle sticks, and occupationally potential infectious materials.  You will learn to develop an ‘exposure control plan’, implement workplace practice controls, utilize universal precautions, and perform clean & disinfection of blood and infectious materials spills.  Annual certification is required to understand the latest in bloodborne pathogens and keep you skills.
